Summer Session: Two Classes

May 26 – July 7 // 9AM

Join us for our summer session of Adult Sunday School Classes. We are offering two classes. Scroll down to register and read class descriptions. All classes are available to all adults.

Meeting with God: Growing in the Basic Disciplines of the Christian Life
Three seemingly unremarkable disciplines shape and strengthen the Christian life: listening to God’s voice, speaking to him in prayer, and joining together with his people as the church. Though often viewed as normal and routine, we never graduate from these basic spiritual disciplines. Reading his word, prayer, and belonging to his church are means of grace given to us by God so that we might meet with him and delight in Christ. Join us as we consider how to integrate these spiritual disciplines into the daily habits of life, so that our joy in God might grow.
Teachers: Ryan Holman & Leon Palmer
Location: Room 9

Evangelism: Reaching the Lost with the Good News of Jesus
The Bible calls all Christians to share the good news about Jesus’s death and resurrection with those who don’t believe in Christ. Yet this task can often seem daunting. This class will help us have the right biblical perspectives on evangelism and encourage us in our efforts to share the good news with others to the glory of God. Join us as we think about who should evangelize, why we should evangelize, how we should evangelize, and what role the church plays in our evangelism.
Teachers: Mike Chaney & Keith Krueger
Location: Room 8

When People Are Big and God Is Small: Overcoming the Fear of Man
All of us are overly concerned about what other people think of us. And our experiences of the fear of man share at least one common feature: people are big. They can grow to idolatrous proportions in our lives. They control us. And whenever people become big to us, God becomes small. God has not designed our hearts to worship both God and people. Using Ed Welch’s When People Are Big and God Is Small as a guide, this class will help us overcome the snare of the fear of man by showing us a true knowledge of God, ourselves, and others.

This class will largely be book discussion based, so participants are encouraged to purchase their own copy of When People Are Big and God Is Small and read the chapter that corresponds with each class beforehand. You can find the schedule below.

Five Lies of Our Anti-Christian Age: What the Bible Really Says about Sexuality, Faith, Feminism, Gender Roles, and Modesty
Modern culture is increasingly outspoken against a biblical understanding of sexuality and gender. The pressure is mounting for Christians to reject what God’s Word has to say on these issues in favor of popular opinion. Using Rosaria Butterfield’s Five Lies of Our Anti-Christian Age as a guide, this class will challenge five common lies about sexuality, faith, feminism, gender roles, and modesty. This class will help men and women in the church know and abide in the truth of God’s Word, and equip us all to confront the pervasive untruths of our cultural moment.

Though it is not required to attend the class, participants are encouraged to purchase their own copy of Five Lies of Our Anti-Christian Age and read the chapter that corresponds with each class beforehand. You can find the schedule below.
